The staff at Tuam Dental are all highly qualified and have many years of experience in their field of expertise. We attend conferences and dental meetings on a regular basis to update our knowledge and skills in dental treatments and new materials.

Our patients can be assured that they receive the most up to date treatments with the best materials available.

Terence Mc Alinden BSc(Hons) PhD DDS
Dentist

Dr Mc Alinden graduated from Queens University Belfast in 1987 with a BSc(Hons) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and then went on to get his PHD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Medical College of Ohio, OH USA in 1992. He started his career in the medical research area and he has published articles in peer reviewed journals in cancer research and in molecular biology.

While working at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit as a research associate he decided on a career change. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1999 with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery and worked for 2 years with Park Dental in Minneapolis.

On returning to Ireland he worked as an associate in Castlebar before taking over Tuam Dental from Dr Kieran Cooke in 2002. Dr McAlinden holds both American and Irish Dental Licence and attends meeting in Europe and the United States regularly to keep up with latest innovations in techniques and materials

Dr Kieran Cox BDS
Dentist

Dr Kieran Cox BDS joined the Tuam Dental team in Sept 2014 having recently returned from a busy general practice in London where he gained extensive experience in areas such as root canal treatments and crowns. A graduate of Trinity College, he is a caring dentist and is happy to treat nervous patients.
Kieran keeps up with the latest developments in dentistry by attending lectures regularly and recently completed part 1 of the MJDF (Member of the Joint Dental Faculties) examinations.
Kieran is also currently doing a MSC in Orthodontics at the University of Warwick. He has completed a certificate in orthodontics and  will soon be offering braces to his patients.

Outside of dentistry Kieran enjoys playing gaelic football for Boyle GAA club and won a county intermediate football medal in 2013, he also played gaelic football for Trinity College during his time there.

Sinead Horan RDH
Hygienist

Sinead qualified from the Glasgow Dental Hospital in June 1992. She won the Ash Prize for best clinical student. She has worked in the public sector in Laois and Offaly, before moving to Galway where she has worked in various private practices.
Sinead joined the Tuam Dental team in January 2003 She has completed further courses in local anaesthesia and health promotion. She is a member of the Irish Dental Hygienist Association and attends their annual meeting.
